Homework

Reading:
p. 235 (615)

Questions:

1. The textbook calls Giuseppe Mazzini's group, Young Italy, a "nationalist group." Look back at your notes on nationalism. If the Young Italians had to make a nationalism poster like the one you made in class, what would they put on it? List at least three things.

2. Who was Count Camillo di Cavour, Giuseppe Garibaldi, and The Red Shirts? Would you describe them as more conservative or liberal than Mazzini and the Young Italians? Why?

3. Your book says that after Italy still suffered problems after unification. This has everything to do with the bonds that create nationalism (from your class notes). Explain the factors that caused many Italians in the South to feel like they didn't share the same identity as those in the North.
