In my high school web classes, every Friday is what's called "Freelance Friday."  It follows the Google 20% principal that a portion of a creative's time should go to projects that interest them.

As I was grading today I decided to share a few current projects.

Web Development Students

• Reading Head First into JavaScript
• Learning Apache and MySQL
• Building a PHP form
• Custom author pages in WordPress templates
• Making web sites for family members
• Starting portfolio sites

Web Design Students

• Designing business cards
• Designing logos for businesses
• Learning HTML

More than in past years, studewnts are really taking to their freelance projects.  I can't wait till more students are working with real clients, although learning on their own is great!
