Designing the Quench Website with Fireworks
Getting Started
- Open Fireworks
- Create a new file that is 800px by 800px
- Save the file in your layouts folder as "quench-layout.png"
Preparing Your Header
- Open your quench-header.png file in Fireworks
- Go to File > Save As
- Change "Save as type" from PNG to JPEG.
- Close the header file (but leave the new layout file open). When it asks you if you would like to save the Fireworks PNG before closing, click "NO."
- Now, open the "quench-header.jpg" file.
- Press copy. Paste the header into the "quench-layout.png" file.
- Now you have the header you created in the last class inside the layout for the rest of the site.
Choosing a Layout
- Go to code-sucks.com layout page.
- Choose a layout that you think would work well for the Quench website.
- Use the rectangle tool to recreate the design in Fireworks.
- Make sure to have the header from the last class, navigation, main content, and footer in the site layout. Additional sidebars are optional.
Choosing a Color Scheme
- Go to Color Lovers Palettes Page to choose a color scheme for your site.
- Decide what colors you will use for the different parts of the page: navigation, footer, main content, header text, paragraph text, links, etc.

In some areas this means helping people obtain clean water from far away sources. In other areas we work to help sanitize and purify water. In other areas we educate people about just how precious water is. If you would like to help, please visit our How You Can Help page to learn more. Thank you.
