Capturing the Image
- Press the print screen button on the keyboard.
- This stores the image of the screen in the computer's memory.
- Now we need to paste the image into a program to print it or edit it. In this example we will use Microsoft Word and Adobe Fireworks.
Screenshots in Microsoft Word
- Open a new Word document.
- Paste the image from the computer's memory into the word document.
- Now you can use the drawing tools and editing tools to crop, add comments, or draw circles/arrows to the screenshot.
Screenshots in Fireworks
- Open a new Fireworks file.
- Fireworks will recognize the size of the screenshot in the computer's memory. The file size should be 1280 x 1024 pixels on the school computer.
- Paste the screenshot into the new file.
- This file is 17 inches wide and way to big to use for your logbook or final paper.
- To resize to a better size, go to Modify > Canvas > Image Size.
- Change the width to 6 inches. The width will automatically adjust.
- Use the drawing and text tools to add the additions you need.
- Save the file and/or print to place in your logbook or final paper.
