Criterion J

Before Beta Testing:

  1. List two beta testers for round one. List two beta testers for round two. Explain why each person is qualified to test your product. Note in your log books when you talked to the beta testers to plan for a time, and when that time was.
  2. List name of client and when he or she will test your product. List the names of two end-users and when they will test your product. These must be different people from the previous two rounds of testing. Although it may seem obvious, write why the client and end-users are important people to test your product.

Beta Testing - Round One

  1. Prepare your questionnaire. The questionnaire should have a combination of closed and open ended questions. Following are some suggested areas to cover.
    • Technical flaws
    • Content
    • Usability
    • Aesthetics
    • Anything else relevant to your product
  2. Give questionnaire out to first round of beta testers. The questionnaire must be answered by hand and have the end user's signature on the questionnaire. The questionnaires will be saved and inserted as an appendix into the final paper.
  3. In your log book, list all of the changes that the testers suggested. Spelling errors and other similar minor errors that you should have caught before cannot be counted for modifications.
  4. Make a note for each suggested change as to whether you think they are changes worthy of being made. Briefly, explain why.
  5. Take "before" screenshots of the parts of your project you are about to change. Make the changes. Take after screenshots of your product for the parts you have changed. Record all of this in your log book.
  6. Amend the questionnaire so that it is ready for the second round of testing.

Beta Testing - Round Two

  1. Repeat steps followed for first round of testing.

Beta Testing - Round Three - Clients and End-Users

  1. Your product should now be ready for testing with your client and end-users.
  2. Repeat the steps from the last two rounds of testing

Writing "Criterion J - Testing and Evaluating the Solution"

  1. Pick one beta-tester from first two round of testing and one from the second round of testing who made suggestions that you used. Explain who these two people are and why they were qualified for beta-testing your product.
  2. Describe one modification that you made based on the suggestions from the beta tester in round one. Describe one modification that you made based on the suggestions from the beta tester in round two. In both of these refer to the screenshots showing the before and after for each modification.
  3. Create the appendix with headings for each round of testing, the before and after screenshots, and a brief caption for each change explaining what you did.
  4. Scan the questionnaire for the two beta testers whose suggestions you used. They must be dated and have the tester's signature. They will prove that you actually tested the product.'
  5. Repeat these steps for the changes you made based on the testing with one of your end users in round three of testing. This must be from an end-user not your client. Make sure all appropriate documentation from this round is also in the appendix
