Legacy Ports Project

You will write a two to three page report about legacy ports. In your report discuss the following:

1. Investigate the following ports and provided a description of each port, including how it is normally used: USB, USB2, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, Parallel, Serial, Joystick, PS/2 (keyboard and mouse), Monitior, and game ports.
2. Evaluate whether or not any of the older legacy ports (such as parallel and serial ports) could be completely replaced by the newer ports.
3. Is there a way to connect hardware designed for an older type of port to a USB port?
4. Locate two computer advertisements online, in the newspaper, or in a computer journal, and list all the ports included on each PC. How many empty expansion slots are available inside each PC. Do these advertisements change your opinion about legacy ports? Explain.
5. Describe one port predicted to gain in popularity and use in coming years. Why?
