About DaBrook.org

DaBrook.org LogoDaBrook is short for Springbrook High School, a rock star public high school in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.  I set up DaBrook originally to help my web design and ITGS students, although I hope that teachers and those interested in the fields of web design and ITGS will find the site helpful and interesting as well.  The site has since expanded to support the classes I teach at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD and the Center for Digital and Imaging Arts in Georgetown, DC.

The logo for DaBrook is a hand, which represents a student’s hand raised in academic pursuit.

About Me

I am Zac Gordon and I love teaching.  I have an academic background in the field of World History (I also teach Modern World History at Springbrook).  My passion for web design and technology came during my undergraduate years at the University of Maryland were I worked for the humanity department doing web development and other interesting IT work for teachers.

At Springbrook I teach a combination of courses in a couple of departments.  I find that teaching both history and technology really helps me stay connected with both the practical aspects of life and the deeper questions that many of work with in our lives (and that the study of the social sciences often deal with).

I’m not going to lie, though, and say that I love these fields equally.  My heart and passion is definitely with web design.  I immerse myself pretty thoroughly in the field and am currently pursuing another degree in the area of web development.

In 2009 I began teaching web development at Montgomery College.

Outside of school I run a Silver Spring based web development firm.  In addition to taking on projects with my team of professionals, I work to turn more and more work over to qualified college aged web developers who I have helped train at Springbrook.
